Spring Cove School District, Blair County
The Spring Cove School District constructed three new athletic fields at their elementary campus. The project site is a 13.8-acre parcel and includes one baseball field, two new softball fields, and a parking lot. For future development, Keller Engineers’ was asked to include, in the Master Plan, accommodations for press boxes, dugouts, bleachers, and a concession building. Three bioretention basins were designed and installed to manage runoff and future additional impervious.
Project Uniqueness/Challenges: Significant amounts of off-site runoff from the north and south needed to be conveyed around the site to avoid an unnecessary increase in detention. With no defined watercourse in which to discharge, Keller Engineers modified the stormwater approach to incorporate a set of stilling fore-bays and level spreaders to dissipate velocity before the water reaches the neighboring property.
Penn Cambria School District has collaborated the last 4 years with the Keller Engineer’s team to complete a multi-phased paving and drainage project on our HS campus. I have personally worked with Adam Long, Brian Smith and Shawn Ritchey throughout the entire project and they made Penn Cambria feel like we were their only client. The personal attention to our needs and specific details of this project were second to none. The communication aspect of the Keller Engineer Team was outstanding. We trust their process, their design and their commitment to a quality project that when completed, we are all very proud of. Bill Marshall, Superintendent Penn Cambria School District
