Project Details

The park is a multi-use community facility that promotes health and fitness while celebrating the historical, religious, and cultural heritage of Loretto. The site is also used by Saint Francis University for environmental education, wellness education, and stewardship training.

The park is handicapped accessible and includes picnic tables, grills, benches, bike racks, restrooms, walking paths, fitness stations, and playground equipment. Additionally, interpretive signs are stationed throughout the park with local historical information. Signage, detailing the local environment habitat, is complemented by an outdoor classroom, rain gardens, and native plantings.

To ensure expansion, our team designed the Park Master Plan, which allows for future wetland boardwalks and hiking trails that connect to the Saint Francis University campus.

Project Uniqueness/Challenges:

  • Partnership between Loretto Borough and Saint Francis University for DCNR funding.
  • Joint permit for future boardwalk permitting.
  • Site design contains a number of “green” elements including rain gardens, pervious pavers, and furniture with recycled plastic components.

For over 20 years I have had the privilege of working with Keller Engineers and their staff of surveyors, and civil and structural engineers on over $150 million worth of work. During these project relationships and partnering opportunities, my architectural teams have received nothing but premium professional services and courtesy towards my own staff, clients and prospective clients with stellar attention given to building and site details, client responsiveness and peer respect. I look forward to many more teaming opportunities and urge any other architectural firms, municipalities or clients who have not worked with Keller Engineers to do so. You will be pleasantly surprised! Richard L. Karcher, AIA, NCARB
